British cellist Matthew Huber recently graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a BM in Performance, and MUA in historical performance practices of the 17th and 18th centuries. Equally at home on Baroque and modern cello, Matthew enjoys chamber music, early music, and solo performance, as well as teaching. He has presented recitals in mainland Europe, Scandinavia, and in the USA at the Boston Early Music Fringe Festival, among other venues. He has taught masterclasses and private lessons in Seoul, Korea, at the invitation of Ho Jung Kim (Associate Principal of the Seoul Philharmonic).

Matthew is indebted to his teachers and mentors, including Steven Doane, Pieter Wispelweij, Anner Bylsma, Robert Max, Miklós Perényi, and Valter Despalj. He is a regular attendee of the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, Cornwall, and attends Open Chamber Music there every year. He has performed in masterclasses with many of the world’s most respected soloists and pedagogues and continues to work with historical performance mentors Paul O’Dette and Kristian Bezuidenhout. Matthew plays on a rare cello by Francesco Ruggieri, Cremona, 1685.
